Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) training courses have shown ‘on the day’ savings of1:
- Fuel consumption reduced by 16% for vans and 10% for large goods vehicles (LGVs)
- Equates to annual fuel savings of £650 per van and £2,000 per LGV
- Annual CO2 emissions savings of 1.2 tonnes per van and 5.3 tonnes per LGV

SAFED for Vans: 7,800 drivers trained with an average 16% cut in fuel use on the day of the training. Gear changes also reduced by an average of 30%.
SAFED for LGVs: 6,179 drivers trained with an average 10% cut in fuel use on the day of training. Gear changes also reduced by an average of 36%.
