The Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) is a mandatory carbon reporting scheme for all UK organisations consuming more than 6,000MWh half hourly electricity each year.
To comply with CRC all participants must register and produce a footprint report declaring all of their emissions once per phase, and produce an annual report covering their CRC emissions every phase. The next annual reports for 2011/12 are due by 31st July 2012.
In addition, participants must maintain an evidence pack containing records supporting their declarations, carry out an audit of their processes and purchase carbon allowances for their CRC emissions. Results are published in a league table each October.
AEA is the UK's lead consultancy providing CRC advice. We were the principal technical consultant to Government during the development of the scheme between late 2007 and early 2010. We are also a key advisor to the Environment Agency, the scheme administrator, and since 2009 have prepared answers to thousands of helpdesk queries, drafted key guidance documents and presented over 140 CRC participant workshops. Also, we have been appointed to carry out CRC site audits on behalf of all of the scheme regulators.
Our support to CRC participant organisations ranges from compliance planning, data management, evidence pack management, audit, CRC submissions and CRC financial planning and regulatory risk management. In these areas we support our clients, helping them successful comply with the scheme and manage their carbon exposure.
