Green500

Launched in December 2007 Green500 is an initiative developed in response to the Mayor of London’s Climate Change Action Plan which aims to reduce CO2 in London by 1.5 million tonnes though the actions of 500 of London’s largest organisations– those companies with the greatest carbon saving potential.  This programme has a strong public image that motivates, supports and rewards businesses across all sectors.

Issue

Current CO2 emissions in London stand at 44 million tonnes (a 2.4% reduction from 1990). It is predicted that a ‘business as usual’ approach would see emissions rise to 51million tonnes by 2025. The UK Government has committed to CO2 reduction targets, both under the Kyoto Protocol and under their own pledge, initiatives which includes Green500.

Results

The intelligent IT system AEA developed is the lynchpin to the success of the programme. The fully integrated CRM system means that all relevant information can be recorded and captured, and translated into robust action plans for companies to reduce their carbon footprint. This enables AEA’s technical consultants to assess valuable data at the outset of the application. The website is user friendly and the customer can access all essential information.

During Quarter One of the project, AEA is on target to meet the allocated number of companies signed up to Green500

Solution

We recognised that the need to promote the scheme and manage companies who sign up to the scheme had to be done with as little administration as possible and we decided that a web-based solution would help to achieve this. Our web-based system is also used as an action-planning tool to identify what measures can be addressed to reduce emissions and includes a Content Management System (CMS), a Customer Relationship Management system (CRM), a carbon base-lining tool that is used to measure CO2 output, a fully flexible online form builder a full suite of reporting tools and online PDF invoice generation.
