Business Consultant
Our Business Consultants, whether in the climate change and environmental area, or IT, are strategic thinkers who shape responses to our clients’ critical business issues. They are the consulting lead for our most complex projects and programmes, and provide insight into solving customer needs, as well as horizon scanning for the future.
Specialist Consultant
Our Specialist Consultants have solid commercial knowledge and awareness as well as a depth of knowledge within an expert area. They tend to focus on delivering projects against a back drop of customer needs and they are key to the successful design and implementation of AEA's consulting models and methodologies.
Technical Consultant
Our Technical Consultants typically focus on the delivery of technical projects and support the other members of the consulting team. They tend to have an expert technical knowledge in a defined specialist areas such as energy, and are (or working towards being) an industry market expert in their chosen field.
Meet some of our Consultants:
Colin has 16 years experience in the energy field covering economic, technical and policy studies across a wide range of technologies and techniques. Colin was Project Manager for the Scottish Energy Study, a review of energy supply and demand in Scotland, creating the first consistent dataset on energy in Scotland for over 10 years. He was also Project Manager for a feasibility study on Carbon Trading as a more cost effective means to offset emissions from new homes.

Alan has over 25 years experience of design, development, implementation and management of programmes and initiatives on behalf of Government. Alan is an experienced Programme and Project Manager and has a strong appreciation of the needs of Government in the delivery of programmes and in particular in knowledge and technology transfer initiatives. Alan has a breadth of experience covering stakeholder management programmes, accreditation services, innovation and knowledge transfer programmes. Alan has a broad knowledge of a range of technologies including energy efficiency tools and techniques, environmental performance measures and biological systems. He has many years experience in working with central Government, and a wide range of stakeholders within the public sector, in manufacturing and in commerce, and as a result is well aware of what is required to bring about a sustained change in behaviour.
Alan is currently Programme Director for a number of major programmes AEA is delivering in behalf of our public sector customers. These include the Technical Support Services contract for the Carbon Trust, theSciencewise-ERC programme for BIS, the social and medical research programme for the BIG Lottery and the EEMS Accelerate low carbon vehicle demonstration project.

Mahmoud is a Chief Consultant with overall responsibility for CHP business. He has over 18 years of practical experience of energy use in industry and buildings, with an in depth knowledge of CHP technologies, applications and Government Policies. Over this time he has developed a good knowledge of energy markets reforms and policies and gained experience in dealing with CHP developers, Energy Services companies as well as Government Departments and their agencies, local authorities and other public sector organisations. As Chief Technical advisor to Defra, he provides policy and technical support on all CHP related aspects and represents Defra at a number of working groups dealing with CHP in the UK and Europe.

Chris St John Cox is an expert consultant specialising in energy and carbon policy, strategy and abatement opportunities. Chris is the technical lead for AEA's partnership with CDP on their Public Procurement Programme, liaising with 12 UK Central Government Departments. Chris is also supporting a number of private sector organisations including currently O2 and RFU in looking at their Carbon Management Strategies and CRC liabilities. Chris also has 9 years experience of energy efficiency in the construction industry.
